My Angels
Sally and Suki were puppies from my first Sally, who escaped one night from our flat whilst she was in season. She came back the next morning with a big grin on her face - I think that she knew that she was with puppies. After she gave birth to her three puppies she started banging her head on the walls, just as though she had a violent headache. I forget the condition that the vet said she had… but unfortunately, she had to go to Rainbow Bridge. I really was devastated because she was still a very young dog! She of course left her puppies without their mum, and the vet urged me to have them PTS also. I refused and hand reared them by feeding all three every two hours until they could be weaned. I kept puppy Sally, my mum and dad had Suki, and a neighbour the other pup.
Trixie, was an escape artiste. She could scale a 10 fence and jump out of windows with the greatest of ease. When she escaped from the garden - she used to make her way up to the school, or on one occasion she got on a bus to the next village, fortunately somebody spotted her who knew her and put her back on a bus to our village! She died not long after attempting to scale a fence when she was 14 years old. She died how she lived . God Bless her.

Ben came from the Bluecross! He was half dachshund and around 12 years old when he came to me! Unfortunately because his eyes had been neglected by his previous owner he was already blind in one eye! And about six months after he arrived he started to lose the sight of the other eye. I took him to the Royal Veterinary College in London… and he had a series of operations on it - but in the end it had to be removed. Ben didn’t cope well with being totally blind, and he was constantly hitting his face on corners and walls. He went to Rainbow Bridge in March 2001.

Herbert, was a big cat! When he was younger our vet mistakenly put him on steroids for a`stress related skin complain’! And he grew and grew in size! Years later we found out that he was allergic to fleas - so he had needlessly been put onto this drug. Herbie went to Rainbow Bridge in March 2004. God Bless.
Sabrina was very feisty - and also suffered from anorexia at times! She also had very sharp claws - and unfortunately, if one of the dogs went near her then she would lash out! One day she caught Ben in the eye, which sort of added to his problems. So we did our best to keep her apart from the dogs and them with her. She was with us at our present house for a year. She went to Rainbow Bridge in November 2005.
Eddie, was a sweetie, and was the perfect gentleman with Sabrina, and would always allow her to eat first and would just sit and patiently wait until she had finished. He was a quiet, timid cat - and very scared of all of the dogs. He loved sitting on top of our shed roof in the summer and would sunbathe all day long. He went to Rainbow Bridge November 2008. We miss him very much.
Scoobie, was my son’s dog. But I always thought of him as my fifth member of the gang. He came and stayed with us whenever his mum and dad went on their holidays… I loved him to bits! When he was 10 years old he developed a brain tumour, and was taken to the Royal Veterinary College in London, for treatment and radiotherapy. Unfortunately it was far too advanced. And he went to Rainbow Bridge in May 2007. (His brother Spike is living with my daughter… Spike also comes and stays with us a lot!)
Penny came to us when she was already a year old! She was completely adorable and scatty, and used to catch birds and chase imaginary objects! She became Mutley’s life long companion and lover, (they had three puppies together… ) Her passing to Rainbow Bridge was awful… she developed a large lump on her leg… the vet took her in for a routine biopsy. He phoned me hours later to tell me that `the thing’ on her leg had burst, and he was afraid that the poisons had gotten into her blood stream! They kept her in but we were phoned the next morning to say that she was very, very ill and could we come…. Unfortunately, although we broke all records to get there - we never made it in time to say goodbye! Penny went to Rainbow Bridge 14th October 2001.
Buster - was on of the puppies from Mutley and Penny. He was very, very special to me … we only had him for three short months. He had fluid on the brain… and had to be pts. God Bless you little Buster. xxxx
Mutley, was my Little Man, my Little soldier. He was always, always with me - and we shared 19 years together. I could write a book about his life… he was so precious. However, Molly has now taken on a lot of his characteristics, and Mutley lives on through her. Mutely went to Rainbow Bridge on December 7th 2007. God Bless you Little Man, and all of my other angels. xxxxx
